The Denzel Washington-led 1995 Devil in a Blue Dress may get a sequel on the small screen.
NBC is prepping a series entitled Easy Rawlins drawn from Walter Mosley’s gritty mystery novels about a black private investigator named Ezekiel “Easy” Rawlins, according to Deadline Hollywood. Rawlins not only solves crimes but his story depicts the evolving landscape in 1960s Los Angeles as the books take place from the 1940s to 1960s. As a P.I. Rawlins has a conscience despite the City of Angels's mean streets.
Mosley will write the series adaptation alongside "Southland" co-executive producer Cheo Coker. Seven years ago, another adaptation of Mosley’s Easy Rawlins 11-novel series was developed by the USA Network. Elsewhere, Mosley served as an executive producer on the CBS drama pilot "The Law & Mr. Lee," about an Oakland-based private eye played by Danny Glover, in 2003.
