Wiz Khalifa is surely having a good year.
He dropped his debut album Rolling Papers in March, moving almost 200,000 units it’s first week. He and Amber Rose announced their engagement in April and he won BET’s Best New Artist award in June.
 Next on his to do list is promoting the career of his newly signed Taylor Gang artist Lola Monroe. According to AllHipHip.com, Lola Monroe left the world of modeling, where she was known as Angel Lola Luv, to pursue a music career. The website says she tells DJGreg Street of radio station V-103 in Atlanta, “When he reached out, he was like, ‘I feel as though our movements represent the same thing, so I want you to rep Taylor Gang.’ And I agreed, so it’s only right.”
 It seems we can expect a few mixtapes from her coming soon.

Lady Gaga Asked To Wear Lettuce Dress

Lady Gaga has many alter egos. From her masculine side known as Jo Calderone to her fashion, it seems she would go to many lengths to make a statement. According to Reuters, this is exactly what the animal rights organization PETA is hoping for. While visiting India this weekend for the country's first Formula 1 Grand Prixe race, Gaga’s publicist received a letter from the group asking the Born this Way singer to practice vegetarianism for the weekend and don a lettuce dress for a photo shoot. Sachin Bangera of PETA India tells Reuters, "If she agrees, we'll make her a dress entirely of lettuce and held together by pins and threads. It will be a full length gown, and we'll make sure it looks sexy." As for the wilting factor, Bangera says, "Someone will be on hand to spray the lettuce with water. In Indian culture, the cow is a sacred animal; in 2010, Mama Monster famously wore a real meat dress to the MTV Awards. The 25-year-old is scheduled to perform today in New Delhi after the race. There's still no word yet on whether she will rock the salad-based dress or not.

Prodigy and Lil Wayne Discussed Collaboration in Jail

Prodigy was released from prison back in March after serving a three year sentence for weapons possession in New York, but the rapper used that time behind bars to network. Lil Wayne's eight month sentence at New York's Rikers Island in 2010 overlapped with Prodigy's and the two decided to collaborate on something once both were freed. Actually we was talking while we were both locked up,” Prodigy told RapFix Live last Wednesday. “We was in communication with each other. He made a little quote for me on my autobiography, on the cover of the book. We supposed to be doing some music in the future. Prodigy also talked about his first book, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Dee's Prodigy, which was released in April. The controversial stories in the book caused some artists to speak out against some of the rapper's allegations. Capone, Noreaga, Nas, Jay-Z, Irv Gotti, Ja Rule, and Caddilac Tah are some of the names thrown in the mix. I knew that was gonna come. I was just being real that’s all. It wasn’t no publicity stunt, it wasn’t nothing but me being myself and telling my story. Vin Diesel Film Shut Down

How’s an action star supposed to get out of this jam? Vin Diesel has a problem on his hands: production on his new flick, the sequel to Chronicles of Riddick, has been shut down due to non-payment of the crew and studio space. The film, which was shooting in Montreal, is being produced by Diesel’s company One Race Films. TMZ reports that the landlord of the sound stage Riddick was shooting on has changed the locks, and the crew hasn’t been paid in two weeks. When it comes to Justin Bieber, it can be difficult to remember the 17-year-old Ontario-native was discovered in 2008 and has been in the limelight for only two years. We had to get stuff from the food bank...I want every one of my fans to feel like they're helping out the world in some way. As fans await his sophomore effort, Billboard writes listeners will notice a major shift in the 17-year-old’s sound. His manager Scooter Braun agrees, saying, "Vocally, his balls have dropped. Vybz Kartel Awaits Bail Decision in Jail

Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, will have to wait for judge's decision on whether to grant the singer bail behind bars. The 35-year-old Jamaican dancehall artist is currently waiting to stand trial for two murder charges. Kartel's attorney made the request for bail last Thursday and it might take at least a week for the judge to make a ruling. But before that happens, Kartel will return to gun court on Monday to answer to a second murder charge that was recently brought against him for the death of Clive "Lizard" Williams. Kartel has been in custody since October 1 after an arrest for marijuana possession. There days later, he was also charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and firearm possession in the July 12 death of promoter Barrington "Bossie" Burton. Williams was killed on August 16, but a body has yet to be found. According to MTV, Kartel's defense team is optimistic about his chances in court. I am of the view that if I were the police I would have put my best foot forward," said Christian Tavares-Finson, a member of Kartel's defense team. "So if you apply that theory, the first murder with which he was charged would be the most significant one … the most solid or the most probable for the prosecution to secure a conviction. As far we are concerned, that case is tenuous at best. So if that is the best case that they have at this stage, I am not sure what is to follow.

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon Perform "History of Rap 3"

Timberlake's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Friday, the two jumped right into a follow-up to their hit rap series. The third installment of "History of Rap" had the two blazing through new and old-school tracks from the Fugees, OutKast, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Coolio, Ice Cube, and others. They even treated the audience to a bit of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" and Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" before guiding the crowd through "Hip Hop Hooray" by Naughty by Nature. Fallon's house band The Roots backed up the duo, flowing from one beat to the next seamlessly. Timberlake and Fallon first performed "History of Rap" in September 2010 and included hits from The Sugarhill Gang, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., and Soulja Boy. In "History of Rap 2," which aired this past July, the two rapped along to Cali Swag District's "Teach Me How to Dougie," Lil Wayne's "A Milli," Rick Ross' "B.M.F.," and 50 Cent's "In Da Club. A recent concert in Paris went terribly awry for Keri Hilson, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. The singer was accosted on stage by a male fan, who attempted to kiss her (ironically, while she was performing her song “No Boys Allowed”). The man had to be punched in the face and dragged off stage by Hilson’s security team and her drummer. Hilson, ever the romantic, tried to calm her bodyguards, telling them “leave him alone, he just wants another kiss.” She then mouthed “I love you, too” to the fan as guards wrestled him to the ground. We already knew that Madonna will be the big performer at the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show, but now it seems she's taking a few friends along with her. According to reports, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. will join Madge on stage at the big event to perform a new song called "Give Me All Your Love. The track, featuring vocals from the fearsome threesome, which is said to be the lead single from Madonna's forthcoming, as-yet-untitled, 12th studio album. It was produced by Martin Solveig, most famous for creating the international club smash "Hello" featuring Dragonette. Madonna and her fellow female pop stars will take the stage Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

T.I. has been hard at work promoting his debut novel, Power & Beauty. After signing copies of his book at a Barnes & Noble in Santa Monica on Wednesday, Tip stopped by 97.1 AMP Radio to talk about his music. The "Queen of Hip Hop Soul," Mary J. Blige, will join Jennifer Hudson, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J and Jill Scott in a special VH1 Divas concert paying homage to the cities that gave birth to soul music. The star-studded event, titled "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul," will honor cities that have become synonymous with soul thanks to the artists and scenes that flourished there. Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, London and Philadelphia are all on the list.
The Roots, of Philadelphia, will serve as the house band for this year's Divas concert, which will air on VH1 on December 19 and be taped in New York City the day before.

Jermaine Dupri is hitting the road for a 14-day, 14-city tour starting Halloween. Titled the 1414 tour, the grueling run is designed to promote J.D.'s social networking site, Global14. Lil Wayne Never Heard Watch the Throne, Unsatisfied With Nicki Minaj

Lil Wayne is known for playing with words in his rhymes, but in a new interview with Vibe magazine, he takes a decidedly more direct approach, pulling no punches on subjects ranging from his competition to his views on artists signed to his own Young Money team. Speaking on Jay-Z's and Kanye West's Watch the Throne, an event release that was overshadowed in some ways by Wayne's own Tha Carter IV, Weezy blithely confessed that he simply hadn't bothered to listen to the album. I haven't heard the album. I'll probably never hear the album, he said.  Asked about Nicki Minaj, a Young Money artist who most would say has become a superstar in her own right, Wayne said he was less than satisfied with her professional achievements thus far. I'm not satisfied with anything she's done," he said. "I believe she can do a whole lot more, and I believe she will do a whole lot more. It's not shocking, and it's not surprising. It's quite fitting. But other than that, it's nowhere near the end. As for Drake, Weezy brushed off talk that the rising star could ever be his competition. That's my artist. He's not [just] a friend. We're more than friends. It's business. It would be impossible for it to be a competition. I mean, I'm the guy's boss. That means, on “Fa La La,” it’s hard to tell the boy from the men. Guess it was only a matter of time before Bieber, now 17, went from falsetto to baritone. Adele to Have Surgery on Vocal Cords

Soul singer Adele announced on Friday that she will have to clear her calendar for the rest of the year in order to undergo surgery to repair her vocal cords. Though the British singer is expected to make a full recovery, her label Columbia Records said that “doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.” That means her remaining six concert dates will be cancelled, and refunds issued to ticket holders. This isn’t the first time the singer has suffered medical problems related to her voice. Early this month she canceled a tour of several US cities—the second time she’s had to do so this year—saying she had suffered a hemorrhage near her vocal cords and had been ordered to take an extended rest.

Diggy Gives Props to Mentor Pharrell Williams

Being the heir to hip-hop royalty that he is, Diggy Simmons isn't necessarily in need of any career role models. However, that didn't stop the 16 year-old rapper from seeking out career guidance from one of today’s most influential stars, Pharrell Williams. At iMentor's annual benefit Wednesday evening [October 26], Diggy shared some of the things he's learned from the Grammy Award winning producer.

"He told me that you can make something out of what you think is nothing. You just have to believe in you. He has taught me to be me. The event, held at New York City's Mandarin Oriental, celebrated the work that the philanthropic organization has been doing to pair local underserved high school students with positive mentors. iMentor  theorizes that mentorships will help program participants to succeed in their colleges and careers. Cops Called to Nicki Minaj’s House

Singer and rapper Nicki Minaj allegedly cursed out a maid at her Los Angeles home on Friday morning, mistaking her for a maid she had fired weeks ago. According to TMZ, several weeks ago Minaj's maid took a photo of the performer out of the trash and asked for an autograph. Minaj was insulted and subsequently fired her. Police told TMZ that the fired maid returned to the premise on Friday, where she demanded "not to be treated like an animal." Minaj reportedly responded, "I'll show you how to treat someone like an animal, get the f**k out of my house!" Here’s where the story gets complicated. Another source claims that the maid involved in the confrontation on Friday was not the same maid that Minaj fired weeks ago, though the “Super Bass” singer thought she was. The mystery woman claimed in a battery report that she was physically assaulted by Minaj and "her boyfriend" when they forcibly removed her from the property.

Jay-Z and Kanye West did more than just watch the throne last night—they grabbed a hold and showed no signs of letting go. The dynamic duo set off their Watch the Throne tour, the most buzzed-about tour of the year, at Atlanta's Phillips Arena last night, Oct. 28. According to Rap-Up.com, Jay and Ye set the show off with "H.A.M.," emerging on two cube-shaped platforms. During the two-and-a-half-hour-long concert, the MCs performed songs off their No. 1 collaborative album, and also took turns rocking their classic solo material. Jay-Z had the entire arena throwing up diamonds to the sounds of “Where I’m From,” “Empire State of Mind,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” “Big Pimpin’” and “Hard Knock Life.” Kanye, meanwhile, rocked an emotional version of "Runaway"—while wearing a leather kilt (yes, a kilt). Atlanta, you are now looking at black excellence at its finest. Make some noise!” Jay shouted at one point, embracing Kanye. One of the highlights of the power-packed evening was their moving performance of “Made in America,” during which Jay asked the crowd to hold up their phones and lighters in honor of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Jay and ‘Ye closed out the night with their “Why I Love You,” leaving little doubt that they're two of hip-hop's kings.

T.I. Visits Chelsea Lately

T.I. took his comeback promo tour to the Chelsea Lately show last night, where he spoke with the feisty late-night talk show host, Chelsea Handler, about his new book, Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on The Streets.The book, which is the Grammy winner's first novel, follows the intersecting lives of two teenagers, a boy named Power and a girl named Beauty. T.I. wrote the bulk of it while he was behind bars. I had a lot of time on my hands and I had to stay productive," he said. T.I. also confirmed that his wife, Tiny, whom he married shortly before being sent away, visited him frequently while he was locked up.

The "I'm Flexin'" rapper then went on to re-cap the other highlights of his turbulent year, including helping talk a suicidal man down from a ledge, getting sent back to prison from a halfway house shortly after his release, and helping to diffuse an argument between Diddy and a clubgoer after the BET Hip Hop Awards 2011. Adele To Release Live Album

Adele may be canceling shows around the world due to illness, but for fans, there's hope. The Brit singer-songwriter is gearing up to release a "Live at the Royal Albert Hall" on DVD and CD this holiday season.
The "Live" CD and DVD will include a 90-minute set featuring tracks from both her album 19 and 21, according to the LA Times. In addition, buyers will get Adele's twist on Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and the Steeldrivers' “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” along with behind-the-scenes footage. Jim Jones Escapes Robbery Attempt

Jim Jones had the rumor mill buzzing yesterday thanks to reports that he was involved in a physical altercation in his native Harlem. But speaking to radio personality Miss Info about the situation, Capo said he wasn't looking for drama and was actually the victim of a "botched robbery. I was in Harlem, alone, when three men stepped to me," Jones said. "The first guy, I beat the sh** out of him, then the second guy jumped in with a metal pipe. I was so amped up I didn't even feel him hitting me with it. The Dip Set rapper said it wasn't until a gun made an appearance that things came to a head. I was still putting a beating on the first guy, but when the third guy pulled out a gun, I got out of there. I left. Anyone with a brain would do the same. Jones said the robbers were most likely after his jewelry, which he admitted he probably shouldn't have been wearing while out in the street at night in the neighborhood. That was a stupid mistake. I know that. I'm human and that's where I slipped up. It won't happen again. Despite the attack, Jones said he went right back to the studio and continued working on an upcoming mixtape. He tweeted a photo of himself smiling in the studio, which he says was taken after the fact.

During a visit with the Shade 45 “Sway In The Morning” show on Sirius XM last week, T.I. not only talked about his fiction book, Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets, and his latest projects, but he was also treated to a pre-recorded video of Drake speaking kindly about T.I. and the legendary Stevie Wonder. Wonder joined Drake onstage at the OVO Fest in Toronto this past July where the legendary singer offered some words of advice to the Young Money star. There’s gotta be a reason why this man comes out to at OVO Fest and plays 35 minutes when he’s supposed to play one song,” Drake said. “There’s a reason why he even shows up there period, why he’s willing to come and share his insight with me. He then went on to talk about T.I. and how much he looks up to the “King of the South.” “He’s been like probably one of the greatest most influential people next to Tip who took the time very early in my career to sit me down and have a great conversation with me that I keep with me all the time. He told me some key things a couple of nights before he went to jail. Those are two guys, and I know they’re obviously different, but for me it meant a lot to me. T.I. also had nice words for the young rapper calling him “phenomenal” and remembers telling Drake to enjoy every moment in the business.

Vybz Kartel Hit With Second Murder Charge

The legal woes and alleged body count is mounting for reggae superstar Vybz Kartel. Jamaican police have charged the dancehall king with the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, which is now the second murder charge Kartel is facing this month. According to go-jamaica.com, Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch detectives allege that Kartel (born Adidjah Palmer) and Kiro Jones murdered Williams on August 16, 2011 in St Andrew, Jamaica.

 Earlier this month the “Rampin Shop” deejay was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm. Detectives said Kartel and several other men conspired to murder rival promoterBarrington “Bossie” Burton, who was shot and killed on July 11, 2011. Kartel is expected in court for a hearing on the Boosie murder later this week, prosecutors will then look to hold a preliminary hearing on the Williams case immediately after.

Flo Rida Disputes Reports of Hotel Room Raid

After Miami rapper Flo Rida failed to appear as scheduled at the Fat As Butter festival in Australia last Friday (October 21), promoters for the event explained the incident by claiming Flo showed up three hours late to the event and wasn't "in a suitable condition to perform. At the time, the hip hop star simply blamed the blown performance on "unforeseen circumstances," but now he's come forward to shed more light on the issue. Speaking to AllHipHop.com, Flo said he was late to the show because of transportation issues, and clarifies another story that his room was raided by police. Flo said he was not provided transportation to the venue by the concert organizers and was unable to get himself there on time despite multiple attempts to hail a taxi. In their official account of the incident, Fat As Butter has said it offered to compensate Flo Rida for his transport. On the same night of the show, it was reported that Flo Rida's room was raided by police who caught wind of "the strong smell of burnt canabis," but Flo says it wasn't his room that was targeted, but that of an associate. I am not a smoker and as a matter of fact, contrary to reports my room was never raided,” he said. Flo's personal assistant, Dakari Dalawn Phillips, was arrested in the raid after the cops found marijuana, a taser and other restricted items.

Adele Cancels Another Performance

Soulful British songbird Adele was forced to cancel yet another performance thanks to a damaged vocal chord that has plagued her for the better part of the year. The 21-year-old singer was scheduled to perform at the Q Awards in London on Monday (October 24), but didn't to go on due to the condition of her throat. Appearing on stage to accept an award last night, Adele apologized to the audience in a breathy voice, saying she was "terribly sad," but doctor's orders prevented her from singing. A representative for Adele's record label said she would require "an extended rest period. Earlier in the year, Adele was forced to decline singing with Beyoncé, one of her idols, at the Glastonbury music festival due to laryngitis. This month, she cancelled 10 sold-out tour dates in the U.S. The "Rolling in the Deep" singer did perform at MTV's Video Music Awards in August.

Students Petition Kanye West to Speak Against Immigration Bill

Nearly 1,000 students have signed a petition asking Kanye West to meet with Alabama leaders and speak against the state's new immigration law. West is currently in Birmingham preparing for his Watch the Thronetour with Jay-Z. The campaign, which currently has 908 signatures, was started by a student and Kanye West fan at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Like thousands of Kanye fans, I grew up listening to Hip-Hop, and it was one of the things that shaped my consciousness about race and justice,” says William Anderson, who launched the petition on Change.org. “Alabama’s new immigration law is an attack on the state’s citizens, documented and undocumented. In the spirit of the social justice and hip hop, I hope that Kanye listens to his fans and takes a few minutes to learn and educate others about the crisis that is happening in Alabama. The bill, HB 56, was modeled after Arizona's controversial law and has been deemed by many as discriminatory and the harshest anti-immigration policy in the country. The petitioners hope West takes notice of their request and meets with civil rights leaders and local politicians before he leaves the city on October 28.

Lil Wayne is holding fast to his dream of retiring by age 35. Back in March, the Young Money rapper said he'd like to retire by then and in the November issue of GQ, he repeated the same wish.

Syleena Johnson Responds to "Watch the Throne" Lawsuit Criticisms

Now that Syl Johnson has officially filed a lawsuit due to Jay-Z and Kanye West's illegal sampling of his song "Different Strokes," his daughter, Syleena has had to address criticisms over the court action.
It’d be cool if everybody would stop saying 'your dad is suing Kanye,’ because I don’t really feel like that’s the case,” she says on Sway In The Morning. The R&B singer, who recorded the hit "All Falls Down" with Kanye West, says that although her father is pursuing the lawsuit, he is not targeting the two rappers. It’s not necessarily that Kanye did the record,” she explains. “It’s to my understanding that Pete Rock did the beat, but of course it looks cooler to see ‘Oh, Syl Johnson is suing Kanye and Jay-Z.’ Jay-Z probably doesn’t even know anything about the beat! I know there’s a piece of my father’s song 'Different Strokes' in it, but I think that his issue is not necessarily with them [Kanye and Jay-Z], it’s with the label, because it’s their responsibility to get the clearance for the song,” she continued. “When I talk to my dad, he’s not like 'I’m gonna get Kanye or I’m gonna get Jay-Z.' Real talk, if somebody samples Kanye or Jay-Z, or whoever else, I’m sure they would go after the person for their money too. In the lawsuit, Syl Johnson claims that his 1976 hit was sampled in Jay-Z and West's Watch the Thronetrack "The Joy" without the proper permission.

Star Trek’s New Spock Says The Next Movie Is Imminent

Zachary Quinto has been making headlines lately for things which have nothing to do with Star Trek, but that’s about to change since he’s starting work on the next Trek movie, well, now. The new Spock spoke to Perri Nemiroff, one of our reporters, earlier this week and told her that not only isStar Trek: The Next “on the imminent horizon” but he’s headed back to LA this week where he’ll “start to prep for it.” The plan he says, is for production to start on a new Star Trek movie “in the beginning of the year.
