Looks like pop up shops are all the rage this year, and Dr. Dre is the next to follow suit in the hip hop game after the ever elusive Watch The Thone SoHo store. Though we’re sure that most fans are wishing this was an album release party rather than for the iconic head phones– seeing Dre out and about gives us all hope that Detox is getting closer. Dr. Dre celebrated with will.i.am and Jimmy Iovine at the SoHo shop located on 67 Greene Street, and Jimmy talked to the press about their logic in putting up a storefront for the booming sound based company. Dre was presented by a cake shaped like the recognizable head phones to mark the momentous occasion. The Beats store belongs downtown right now. It’s got the right environment, the right feel with the cobblestone streets. Beats is as much about fashion as it is about audio, we wanted to plug into a place that had quality and Luke [Wood] thought that we should try a place downtown. The shop is home to a display wall of custom head phones that show the various demographics and personalized sound experiences that these users have. But one thing remains constant, these are Beats By Dre head phones. They’re still working on the sound technology for the Beats technology cell phones, but consumers and Dre fans know that the head phones are still the best on the market. And with Dre’s holiday “Beats” lineup, New Yorkers can be sure to get a great pair at the actual store, as it’s open from November 3, 2011 to January 15, 2012.
