Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, will have to wait for judge's decision on whether to grant the singer bail behind bars. The 35-year-old Jamaican dancehall artist is currently waiting to stand trial for two murder charges. Kartel's attorney made the request for bail last Thursday and it might take at least a week for the judge to make a ruling. But before that happens, Kartel will return to gun court on Monday to answer to a second murder charge that was recently brought against him for the death of Clive "Lizard" Williams. Kartel has been in custody since October 1 after an arrest for marijuana possession. There days later, he was also charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and firearm possession in the July 12 death of promoter Barrington "Bossie" Burton. Williams was killed on August 16, but a body has yet to be found. According to MTV, Kartel's defense team is optimistic about his chances in court. I am of the view that if I were the police I would have put my best foot forward," said Christian Tavares-Finson, a member of Kartel's defense team. "So if you apply that theory, the first murder with which he was charged would be the most significant one … the most solid or the most probable for the prosecution to secure a conviction. As far we are concerned, that case is tenuous at best. So if that is the best case that they have at this stage, I am not sure what is to follow.
