Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Join 'Django Unchained

Buzz around Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained seems to be compounding daily with each new bold-faced name added to the cast, and now Variety reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may join Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio for the slave era drama. JGL's previous conflict—promotion for his film Premium Rush was set for the same time as Django's January 2012 start date—has been removed now that Premium Rush has been pushed to August, when that film can benefit from Gordon-Levitt's post-The Dark Knight Rises heat. And, everybody wins! No details have been revealed about Gordon-Levitt's character, but bloggers familiar with the script have pointed out several open parts, including a 24-year-old kid whose father buys him a female slave to boost his confidence, and various redneck parts. Either way, the role will be in stark (and ironic) contrast to another one on Joe's dance card—that of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln in the historical biopic Lincoln. And guess what? Both Django and Lincoln are eyeing December 2012 release dates. If JGL is out promoting both films simultaneously, that should make for some interesting talk-show interviews.
