The "Queen of Hip Hop Soul," Mary J. Blige, will join Jennifer Hudson, Florence + The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Jessie J and Jill Scott in a special VH1 Divas concert paying homage to the cities that gave birth to soul music. The star-studded event, titled "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul," will honor cities that have become synonymous with soul thanks to the artists and scenes that flourished there. Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, London and Philadelphia are all on the list.
The Roots, of Philadelphia, will serve as the house band for this year's Divas concert, which will air on VH1 on December 19 and be taped in New York City the day before.
